Jemez Springs is requesting Team Rubicon assistance with fire mitigation efforts to protect at risk surrounding communities bordering the YMCA Camp Shaver, 22900 NM-4 Jemez Springs, NM 87025. Camp Shaver serves local and greater NM families providing an outdoor educational experience for children. There are several recreational areas as well as Historical Monuments and Markers. The single Camp Caretaker Travis Merrill is unable to maintain fire mitigation work without extensive assistance. The camp and surrounding community is deep in the overgrown woods and faces extreme fire risk; which is 94% higher that then the rest of the state. Most residents are over 65yo, fixed income and mobility issues.
